2026 MRO Reliability, Security, and CMEP Summit: Grid Reliability is a Team Sport
On May 12–13, 2026, Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) convened industry leaders and world-renowned experts at the Hilton Omaha Downtown for two days of collaborative, deep-dive discussions on the most critical risks impacting the bulk power system. Together, we tackled today’s most pressing challenges.
The 2026 Summit highlights included:
- High-Impact Keynotes: Presentations featured Rob Lee of Dragos on the cyber threat landscape, Jake Mazulewicz, of JMA Human Reliability Strategies on practical ways to prevent serious errors, Chief Meteorologist Sunny Wescott on extreme weather and grid resilience, and former NFL Quarterback Steve Beuerlein with a motivational keynote on leadership under pressure.
- Cutting-Edge Security & Compliance: Sessions explored the impact of AI, OT, and Quantum computing, strategies for mitigating insider threats, and a unique look at leveraging National Guard cyber response teams.
- Grid Resilience & Reliability: Attendees took deep dives into the SunZia Wind HVDC project, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) development, data center load growth, and managing load forecast uncertainty.
- Strategic Leadership: The event delivered executive insights from OPPD, NPPD, and regional regulatory leadership, alongside interactive workshops on human performance and building high-trust cultures.
Whether focused on compliance, security, or reliability, attendees walked away with actionable insights and technical solutions to help define the next chapter of grid resilience.
