Notice of Generating Availability Data System In-Person Training

By Eric Graftaas, MRO Principal Power Systems Engineer

NERC’s Generating Availability Data System (commonly referred to as GADS) is a program managed by NERC to collect performance data on electric generating units (conventional, wind, solar) to analyze equipment reliability.

In collaboration with the North American Generator Forum (NAGF) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), NERC will conduct a three-day GADS Conventional and Wind/Solar Reporting Training on July 7–9, 2026, at the EPRI campus in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Separate, concurrent sessions will be offered for conventional and wind/solar reporting. The training is intended to support a consistent approach to reporting generating plant availability, performance, and related reliability data, with primary focus on reporting requirements and a brief overview of data submittal processes.

The course may be particularly beneficial for newly registered Category 2 generator owners and operators with new GADS reporting requirements, while also serving as a useful refresher for experienced GADS reporters.

Advanced registration is required by Friday, June 26, 2026.

The in-person registration cost is $100 and includes breakfast and lunch each day. A virtual attendance option is available for those unable to attend in person.
