Click here: Draft Recommendations | Feedback Form | Summary | October 20 Webinar Recording
The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) announced on Tuesday, October 21, that its Modernization of Standards Processes and Procedures Task Force (MSPPTF) posted draft recommendations for comment on transforming how NERC develops Reliability Standards in three areas: standards initiation, standards drafting, and balloting.
The Task Force encourages stakeholders to engage with their peers and MSPPTF members and provide feedback by 12:00 p.m. Eastern, November 10, 2025. To simplify the submission process, a standardized feedback form with no character limit has been provided. Stakeholder feedback will be posted on the MSPPTF webpage.
Following the close of the comment period and for the duration of the month of November, the MSPPTF will engage in additional outreach efforts, including two in-person stakeholder input forums scheduled for November 13 in Salt Lake City and November 19 in Atlanta. Stakeholders will have the opportunity during these forums to engage directly with MSPPTF members and each other in open discussion and provide their input and perspectives. Input received from both the comment process and during the forums will be taken into consideration by the Task Force as it develops its final recommendations for process improvements to be presented to the Board in February 2026. These forums will also offer a virtual option; however, those attending virtually will only be able to submit questions through the webinar chat/Q&A feature. In-person attendance is therefore strongly encouraged as your presence helps shape the conversation and will strengthen the collective outcome. Registration for these and other engagements is available here. On October 20, the MSPPTF held an informational stakeholder webinar to discuss the draft recommendations. The webinar recording is now posted along with other MSPP materials on the MSPPTF web page under the Initiatives tab on the NERC website.
