Position Summary

As a regulator, MRO has identified stakeholder outreach and training as one of the most effective ways to influence industry behavior, increase awareness, and mitigate reliability and security risk to the bulk power system in MRO’s region. The Manager of Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement is an experienced meeting and event professional that oversees MRO’s stakeholder outreach and training programs. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing an outreach and training strategy for the organization that aligns with MRO’s strategic plan, vision, and mission. The Manager of Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement works collaboratively with others across the organization and external stakeholders in planning and administering outreach and training events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements (with input from MRO leadership and stakeholders) the outreach strategy for MRO; maintains corporate outreach calendar
  • Determines outreach budget and manages vendor and supplier contracts accordingly
  • Engages with MRO subject matter experts and industry stakeholders to identify outreach topics, develop agendas, coordinate speakers
  • Determines appropriate tools needed to conduct outreach in a professional manner
  • Develops and maintains outreach policies and procedures to ensure consistent outreach approach is applied across the organization; provides initial and on-going training and guidance to individuals who regularly conduct outreach activities on behalf of the organization
  • Represents MRO on ERO outreach groups and helps coordinate joint outreach events with other Regional Entities and NERC
  • Develops key outreach messages and ensures MRO brand is maintained in announcements and materials
  • Develops, reviews, and helps to disseminate outreach materials
  • Attends dry run presentations and provides feedback and guidance to speakers
  • Promotes outreach events through MRO’s social media platforms
  • Identifies feedback mechanisms and tracks metrics to measure MRO’s success in  outreach activities
  • Assists (including host and emcee role) with day of production of outreach events, as necessary 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in communications, public relations, or hospitality management, or equivalent experience and education required
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in customer service, meeting and event planning, coordination strongly desired
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, and business writing and editing skills required; public speaking experience preferred
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize work assignments, and willingness to work collaboratively with others
  • Exceptional skills with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) including the ability to use advanced formatting with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Priority will be given to applicants with knowledge of, and experience with, various event production and registration platforms, including WebEx and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience in the electric utility industry or another regulated industry preferred
  • Standard office environment, requires mobility and sedentary work
  • Hybrid work schedule available
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and kneel as necessary to complete tasks associated with venue and event set up
  • Must be available and altar work schedule in order to accommodate responsibilities associated with scheduled events
  • Travel Requirement: Approximately 5%; this position requires the ability to obtain documentation to allow for travel to and from Canada
