Generator Owner and Generator Operator IBR Primer Document Available

MRO is committed to advancing the ERO Enterprise Inverter-Based Resource (IBR) Risk Mitigation Strategy. In support of NERC’s Invert-Based Resource Registration Initiative and the four IBR Risk Mitigation Strategy tenets below, MRO produced a Generator Owner (GO) and Generator Operator (GOP) Primer document.

NERC IBR Risk Mitigation Strategy- Core Tenets

Information within the GO/GOP Primer is intended to provide awareness to IBR owners and operators that were recently approved for Category 2 IBR registration criteria. The GO/GOP Primer offers guidance to industry stakeholders, specifically IBR owners and operators, by offering mitigation strategies to reduce IBR-related risk to the bulk power system.

The GO/GOP Primer provides helpful links and information, including NERC Reliability Standards applicable to IBR owners and operators, compliance guidance, and risk mitigation strategies from the ERO Enterprise, all in one document.

Supplemental to the MRO GO/GOP IBR Primer, the MRO IBR Primer Risk Strategy Matrix provides a list of NERC Standards with effective dates, responsibility timelines, and strategy information for companies to reference. The strategy section contains helpful tips and considerations on internal controls, documentation, testing, and reporting requirements applicable to specific NERC Standards.

The IBR Primer and IBR Primer-Risk Strategy Matrix offer supporting resources to MRO’s stakeholders and provide awareness of the importance inverter-based resources have supporting grid reliability.
