Evergy’s Tiffany Lake Earns Prestigious HERO Award

Saint Paul, Minn – Today, the Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) board of directors recognized Tiffany Lake, Evergy’s Director of FERC and NERC Compliance, with MRO’s top honor – the annual HERO Award. Lake has been instrumental in strengthening Evergy’s compliance culture and is regarded by her industry peers as a regional expert in NERC compliance.

The HERO Award serves as a peer recognition program for individuals who have set standards of excellence aligned with the theory and principles of High Reliability Organizations (HROs). Award recipients exemplify HRO behavior in pursuit of MRO’s mission “to identify, prioritize and assure effective and efficient mitigation of risks to the reliability and security of the North American bulk power system by promoting Highly Effective Reliability Organizations® (HEROs).”

Lake was nominated for the award because of her unwavering focus on internal controls as a way of reducing compliance risk and her willingness to share her experience and expertise with others across the region. She currently chairs MRO’s Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program Advisory Council, where she encourages collaboration on a wide variety of compliance topics. Lake also volunteered to emcee MRO’s first-ever Reliability, Security, and Compliance Summit last May and was instrumental in the event’s success.

Selected from a competitive pool of nominees, Lake’s recognition comes from the board’s Organization Group Oversight Committee (OGOC), which oversees MRO’s Volunteer Recognition Program. “Tiffany’s active participation within the MRO region and at NERC, her collaborative spirit and willingness to mentor others, and her commitment to our shared vision of a reliable and secure North American bulk power system, is why she was select as this year’s HERO Award recipient,” said OGOC Chair Daryl Maxwell. “Please join us in congratulating Tiffany on this tremendous achievement.”

Lake was honored with a certificate and award during MRO’s Annual Member and Board Meeting on December 4, 2025.
