Position Summary

​The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for assessing and validating business activities to determine if an information technology (IT) solution can be utilized to fulfill the requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. This includes determining the business requirements from program managers and clearly communicating to consultants, vendors, and staff. This position assists with the completion of the design, configuration, user training, and acceptance testing of enterprise information systems and administers and supports the organization’s SharePoint and web site design needs.  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains the company IT Strategic Business Plan by collaborating with management and end-users of each internal department to ensure key IT needs within the business are met
  • Serves as the IT project manager for the IT components of identified IT business projects, including collaborating with stakeholders to define project requirements and milestones, and tracking project status to plan
  • Creates and maintains IT Policies and Procedures and IT controls documentation and tracks implementation and performance of controls
  • Manages the company's overall use of SharePoint and is responsible for implementing changes and maintaining the system to ensure acceptance and use; develops and integrates  workflows and processes
  • Partners with consultants, vendors, and staff on web projects by assisting with updates to MRO's website and other applications
  • Collaborates with MRO IT technical staff to ensure that the appropriate security and confidentiality of information is maintained
  • Partners with the Electric Reliability Organization Enterprise (ERO Enterprise) member IT departments to share technology solutions and drive effectiveness and efficiency of IT operations within the organization and the extended ERO Enterprise
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, or another technical area directly applicable is required. Bachelor's Degree in another discipline and directly related experience may be considered in lieu of technical degree
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience and/or or a combination of training and directly related experience is required
  • The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, to both technical and non-technical audiences, and to give presentations to large groups is required
  • Advanced training and certifications in business analysis is desirable
  • Experience in the development, deployment, and maintenance of key business application/systems is desirable
  • An understanding of business processes including experience mapping complex business processes and identifying process synergies is desirable
  • Project Management experience with the ability to document business requirements for management and applications providers as well as experience creating business cases that includes cost/benefit and risk based analysis is desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite applications including SharePoint and Microsoft Visio is desirable
  • Standard office environment, requires mobility and sedentary work
  • Travel Requirement: Approximately 5%
