This privacy policy applies to the Internet sites provided by Midwest Reliability Organization, Inc. (MRO). In general you can visit our MRO web sites without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. MRO does not automatically collect personal information, such as your name or contact information. We do collect IP addresses and domain names of visitors for site security and administration purposes, such as to analyze this data for trends and statistics and to understand the patterns of usage to improve the use of our web site. At MRO's sole discretion, MRO may disclose pertinent information to appropriate governmental entities to protect the security of critical infrastructure and key resources, ensure information security, or to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request. We may use cookies to manage areas of our Internet sites and to deliver better experiences for users. You have choices with regard to cookies.     

Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information on, or otherwise cause damage to MRO's Internet sites is strictly prohibited. We (or third parties on our behalf) may monitor all network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage or conduct criminal activity. Except for these security purposes, MRO does not attempt to identify users. If such monitoring reveals evidence of possible misuse or criminal activity, such evidence may be provided to law enforcement authorities. Anyone using the MRO Internet site consents to such monitoring and disclosure.

Personal Use of Information

You may decide to provide MRO with personal information which MRO may use to contact you regarding matters relating to MRO's work as a Regional Entity, to facilitate an employment application or other uses consistent with this statement. Except as outlined in the Privacy Policy, MRO does not share your personal information to third parties without your consent.

If you are a board member MRO may post your name and name of your employer, unless otherwise agreed. If you are a member of a stakeholder organizational group, MRO may post your name, employer and business contact information. MRO also may share information you provide with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Regional Entities with delegated authority from NERC and as we believe in good faith may be required by law, the courts, the tax authorities or other governmental agencies, subject to any applicable confidentiality requirements imposed by FERC or NERC, such as Section 1500 of the NERC Rules of Procedures.


MRO's Internet sites are not directed towards or intended for children under the age of 18. MRO does not have any content on its Internet sites that would be considered harmful to children and does not restrict children from visiting its Internet sites. However, in light of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, MRO notes it does not knowingly collect any specific personally identifiable information from children from the MRO Internet sites.

Information Security

MRO intends to protect your personal information from unauthorized disclosure. MRO uses a variety of administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the information you provide MRO. Please note that no electronic transmission of information can be entirely secure.  We cannot guarantee that the safeguards we have put into place will never fail, or that those measures will always be sufficient or effective.
